Accessorizing

Hey everyone! I thought today I would touch on accessories... specifically throw pillows. Do you know that you can change the look of a room just by changing out your pillows? You absolutely can! Here are some tips: Consider the style you are going for. For more of a contemporary look, go for odd number of pillows (3 or 5). Go for larger pillows and avoid too many small ones. 18" to 24" is good to showcase bold patterns and colors. Also, limit your color palette and go for geometric shapes. Avoid any trim, since that tends to be more of a traditional aesthetic. With a traditional look, you want to stay with even numbered pillows and consider various fabrics like velvets, silks and an array of colors and patterns. The size of the pillows depend on the size of your sofa. Smaller pillows mixed with a few larger with fringe trims give that traditional look! Try pairing large 22" pillows with circle ones! Address the entire room. Think of your pillows as part of the living room family. It does not have to match exactly, but it should look unified! Happy Designing!
